NBA 2K League

It is the major regular competition in the NBA 2K universe and follows practically the same format as the conventional NBA. In fact, some say that the NBA 2K League is the best-organised eSports league competition in the world. The teams involved operate as franchises representing different territories in the United States, creating an interesting transfer market between the teams. The 2020 edition opened up the possibility of participating in the championship to teams from other continents, while significantly increasing the prizes at stake.

NBA 2K League European Invitational

With the NBA 2K League now open to teams from other latitudes, the NBA 2K League European Invitational has become one of the benchmark events in Europe. In the fourth quarter of the year, the twenty best European NBA 2K players are called up to show off their skills and attract the attention of the big American teams. Thus, the participants who perform the best will have a better chance of being chosen for the NBA 2K League Draft. As a curiosity, in the 2019 edition almost 50% of the participants were Spanish (nine players out of a total of twenty).

FIBA Esports Open

This is FIBA’s big bet to capitalise on the growing eSports market, which is quite late compared to the initiatives that other international sports associations have promoted in the last decade. Endesa NBA 2K Challenge

The chosen format, with two knockout stages and a grand final stage, makes the event very exciting.

What is NBA 2K?

NBA 2K is a basketball video game series that takes the popular North American NBA as a reference but also includes other renowned competitions. The developers of the video game have not missed their annual appointment since 1999, publishing a fully updated title coinciding with the start of a new season, with NBA 2K20 being the latest instalment to date. The series’ instalments have reached the main consoles on the market, with the latest being available for PlayStation 4, Windows, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PC, iPhone and iPad.
